Wine description
Dieser OLOROSO seco, oder trocken - reifte über Jahre im Eichenfässern, welche nach dem Solera-Verfahren über Jahre hinweg pyramidenförmig mit Weinen aus früheren Jahrgängen assembliert werden. Der Reifungsprozess erfolgt oxidativ. Dieser OLOROSO kann auch angebrochen in der Flasche über längere Zeit gehalten werden.
Appearance: Mahogany in colour.
Nose: Pleasant aroma reminiscent of noble oak from its ageing period and dried fruit.
Palate: Mouth-filling and beautifully dry on the palate.
Food pairing: Traditional: Game casseroles / Innovative: Lamb curry.

The NV Oloroso Cuco, produced from Palomino grapes from Gibalbin and Santa Lucia vineyards and aged oxidatively for 18 years in Sanlucar de Barrameda in topped up barrels, has a deep amber color, a nose of dried apricots, sweet cherries, is aromatic and expressive, it somehow brings to mind the nose of a Palo Cortado. The palate is warm, medium- to full-bodied, round and wide, unusually saline for an Oloroso. Very drinkable. It represents very good value and a good introduction to (elegant) Oloroso.

In erster Linie ist das alteingesessene Haus‚der Inbegriff‘ für einer der besten Sherry-Produzenten weltweit. Don Benigno Barbadillo und Don Manuel Lopez Barbadillo liessen sich 1821 in Sanlucar de Barrameda nieder und widmeten sich dem Weinbau. Die renommierte Bodega besitzt seit Jahrzehnten auch Parzellen nahe der geschichtsträchtigen Stadt Cadiz. Die im südlichen Andalusien gelegene Hafenstadt gilt als die erste bewohnte Siedlung auf dem europäischen Kontinent.
Auf den Bodega eigenen Parzellen werden Traubensorten wie Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo und die autochthone Traubensorte ‘Tintilla de Rota’ angebaut. Die letztere Traubensorte ist für ihren undurchdringlich dunklen Traubensaft und der fruchtbetonten Aromatik bekannt.
